Be Vedetta:
#Be Carbonifera Beach

The Tyrrhenian Sea, white beaches, islands on the horizon. With Be Vedetta, you can enjoy all this at Bagno Calypso.

The Gulf of Follonica encloses the area, from Punta Ala to Piombino, in a warm embrace towards Elba Island. From the houses of the Be Vedetta chain, you can enjoy the breathtaking view as far as the eye can sea, thanks to its superb position. On clearer days, you can even catch a glimpse of Corsica and the sea will seem like a placid lake surrounded by wild landscapes. Here you can choose among the many beaches where to relax your body and soul. Changing latitude, the perspective changes, and so does Elba’s silhouette. More rounded in the South, more bristly and compact up North. That’s why we recommend exploring all our beaches, which are among the most beautiful in Italy and are proud to fly the blue flag. This recognition confirms yet again the environmental quality and the importance of sustainable tourism.

Marina di Scarlino, Cala Martina e Cala Violina

Moving South, you will discover the wild nature of the coves north of Marina di Scarlino, Cala le Donne with its flat rocks, the semi-desert Cala Martina with round pebbles, and the famous white beach of Cala Violina. All of these beaches can be reached only on foot, by bicycle, or by boat. Going North, you can explore the Sterpaia Coastal Park, where Be Vedetta allows you to book your spot in the sun on the Carbonifera beach at Bagno Calypso.

La Carbonifera, Sandy Beach, Clear Water

Between Follonica and Piombino, the Art Nouveau Carbonifera building was built in 1870 for the reclamation of the surrounding area and takes its name from the ancient tower that dominates the beach. In the past, this is where the railway that took coal from the inland mines to the ships ended Here you can enjoy the fine white sandy beach, clear water, and shallow seabed, the dunes and their typical Mediterranean shrubland fragrance, and the shady pine forest that becomes a centuries-old oak wood. The Carbonifera beach is the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature and a day at the seaside. Not far from the shore is an artificial reef, parallel to the coast. Many believe that it’s an ancient stretch of the Aurelian Way. Today, it’s the perfect natural habitat for numerous marine species to admire during snorkelling and diving tours. Bagno Calypso is the beach establishment that takes its name from Jacques Cousteau’s beloved research ship. Here you can enjoy your privacy, a relaxing atmosphere, and special prices for Be Vedetta guests.

Calypso Beach

You can reach Bagno Calypso via the bicycle lane that runs along the coast or the road next to the Aurelian Way, where you will find two large car parks. From here you can reach the beach passing under the Carbonifera. The beach establishment is the second to the right. Be Vedetta guests can book a beach umbrella and two sunbeds and even take their pets to the beach.
